Blepharitis is an inflammation of the edge of the eyelids following eyestrain, infection, exposure to smoke and dust or to very glaring lights. It is treated by resting the eyes, applying boric acid compressess, and covering the edges of the lids with "ophthalmic penicillin ointment" at night. prevention means avoiding all of the causes mentioned
